Barry Bonds Homeruns Still Do Not Endear Him to Diamondback Fans |

There are rumors out there that the Arizona Diamondbacks may bring Barry Bonds on to the roster for the 2008 season. The Barry Bonds homeruns are probably the motivating factor to bring this guy on board, but he does come with baggage, notably the legal trouble that he is in. He won't go to trial until 2009, so if they sign him on for one season, the Diamondbacks might recover some of their standing in the league. They started the season out great, but have lost a number of games lately. It's all those Barry bonds homeruns that are driving the Diamondbacks to look at this contemporary baseball player as a team member, certainly not his popularity with the fans. In spite of Barry Bonds homeruns, 63% of people polled on the azcentral.com website said "no way" to bringing Bonds on board to replace Eric Byrnes, who appears to be out for the season because of an injury. Just 28% said that they thought the Diamondbacks should bring him on to do "whatever it takes to win." I believe the people have spoken. |
