What Will Be the Ultimate Legacy of Barry Bonds Homeruns? |

Depending on how you look at them, Barry Bonds homeruns are either the legacy of a great athlete, or clear evidence that this talented baseball player used illegal performance-enhancing drugs to boost his performance far beyond what a normal man is capable of. But is that fair? Can anyone prove conclusively that Barry Bonds homeruns are really the product of Bonds' alleged steroid use? There's no question that Barry Bonds homeruns are, at least in part, the product of a talented, highly trained athlete who provided hours of great entertainment to American baseball fans over the course of his long and storied career. I think we should all withhold judgement on the source of Barry Bonds homeruns until at last some kind of final legal decision has been reached about whether the Giants' slugger did or did not use performance-enhancing substances. In America everyone is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, so why can't we give the great Barry Bonds the same benefit of the doubt that all Americans are due. As for me, I'm going to continue watching that Barry Bonds homerun video and enjoy the sheer poetry of watching this man play baseball very, very well.
