It's a bizarre idea at the moment, but I think that Kansas City Royals fans are so desperate that they'll grasp at any straws to break their team's (so-far) seven game losing streak. I read recently that some KC Royals fans are floating the idea of hiring disgraced slugger Barry Bonds to add Barry Bonds homeruns to the mix in the hopes of raising the beleaguered Royals from the sewer. Even though it's a pretty good bet that Bonds record breaking homerun is the product of steroid use, it's also true that Bonds is one of the most talented players to ever play the game. Is he unlikeable? An egomaniac? A big jerk much of the time? Well, sure, but that shouldn't take anything away from the fact that with Barry Bonds homeruns being hit is pretty much a foregone conclusion. So, if Barry Bonds can avoid becoming inmate Bonds for lying about steroid use, perhaps those Royals fans aren't so far out in left field after all.
