Many of us remember that special moment when we saw Barry Bonds record breaking homerun and right at that moment instead of immersing ourselves on one of Barry Bonds homeruns, we immediately began to think whether we were looking at history but for all the wrong reason. As Barry circled those bases one cannot help to think on whether we were going to remember this as one of the greatest moment in baseball or as one of the greatest scams in baseball. Bonds record breaking homerun should have been a moment for all baseball fans to enjoy; it should have been a moment that we could tell our grandkids about. But now when many us speak about Bonds record breaking homerun, we will be adding an asterisk to our conversation and that seems like such a crime. Firstly, we do not know if Barry used steroids or not, but in my eyes Barry is being judged to harshly. We always applauded Barry Bonds homeruns with a tint of zeal behind our claps and we don't know how something like that might affect a human being. I'm sure Barry felt a lot of pressure to fulfill everyone's expectations, from the media, his father, his godfather and all the loyal fans. Barry Bonds homeruns were an ode to everyone that surrounded him, to all that pleaded everyday for Barry to hit one out. Bonds record breaking homerun was not just about him, it was about us too. Without our demands Barry would not be who he is, so we need to have some compassion and stop squeezing on his neck so much. I think the asterisk is more than enough.
