bonds record breaking homerun

If the Feds have their way, Barry Bonds record breaking homerun will be just one more piece of evidence that the famed homerun slugger was juicing and didn't earn his record legitimately. It's sad really, for this should have been a year of celebrating Barry Bonds homeruns. Instead, he'll be testifying in a Federal Court on perjury charges based on testimony he gave denying steroid use. As we all know, lying to Federal investigators is a Federal Crime, and this year's Homerun King may soon be trading his SF Giants uniform for orange colored prison coveralls, his triumph turned to disgrace, and that famous Barry Bonds homerun video that was broadcast endlessly on TV just another embarrassing moment in pro sports, like the O.J. Simpson trial, or the photos of Michael Vick being hauled into court for dogfighting. Still, Bonds established one record that he's likely to keep: the controversial story of Barry Bonds homeruns was voted the Story of the Year by the members of the Associated Press. So, whatever the outcome of his perjury trial, it seems like  Barry Bonds record breaking homerun will enter the record books with a permanent asterisk. It's a sad day for this noble sport.
